-  Cycling  -

An innovative and unique way of introducing health & fitness, the Perth Integrated Health Clinic leads the way once again with the creation of a Cycling club with a difference.

Cycling is now regarded as the new millennium sport as golf was in the previous and the uptake by many in the corporate and executive sector has been encouraging.

-  Golf  -

PIHC Director Ian Wee has been involved with the treatment of golfers for the past 15 years. Apart from his involvement with the game at a personal level, he has been associated with the treatment of golfers at the professional and amateur level, golf clubs and corporate golf days. Ian combines his extensive clinical experience to that of the game incorporating the essence of golf biomechanics in his treatment of golfers. Those who wish to learn more about how biomechanical symmetry and spinal muscular balance can enhance their game of golf are encouraged to make an appointment with him.

-  Gymnastics  -

PIHC has developed an excellent relationship with the Northern Districts Gymnastics Club over the past 9 months. Many of the international and national level gymnasts have received care at PIHC for not only acute injuries and preventative care, but also for performance enhancement through Huber treatment. Whilst also acknowledging the spirit and discipline of many of the gymnasts treated at PIHC, often training more than 20 hours per week amongst their schooling and family commitments, PIHC also recognises the support and encouragement from coaches and parents. PIHC practitioners have been lucky enough to be invited to attend many of the gymnast’s competitions and support NDGC in these often stressful events.

-  Swimming  -

As Occupational Therapists at Perth Integrated Health Clinic, we are interested in the performance enhancement of athletes at the elite level. Consequently, we are interested in providing care to swimmers.

We are already the treating practitioners for three swimming clubs – Kalamunda Swimming Club, Aqua Attack and Western Sprints. We work closely with the swimmers of these clubs, as well as the parents and coaches.

In the recent State Championships 2007, we saw swimmers from all of these clubs swim personal best times, qualify to the finals and achieve national record times. The clubs described the State Championships 2007 as one of the best ever, coinciding with the commencement of their swimmer’s treatment at PIHC.

Anecdotes from swimmers, parents and coaches tell the story of improved strength, symmetry, stroke technique and pace in the swimmers. This is from those who have received neuro-muscular care and who have taken part in Huber sessions. We as treating practitioners have also seen improvements in the swimmers over short periods of time, in terms of their neuro-muscular balance and Huber function.

Huber can be used to imitate all of the swimming strokes. Therefore, as well as improving strength, symmetry, core stability and balance, we are using the Huber to enhance stroke technique.

If you would like more information about Perth Integrated Health Clinic and the Huber, or would like to make a visit to the Clinic to see the Huber and how it can make a positive impact on your swimming club, please contact:

-  Pole Walking  -

PIHC is again leading the way in health and wellbeing by introducing the unique and beneficial sport of “pole walking.” Originally conceived in Finland in the 1930’s as a summer fitness regime for cross country skiers, pole walking involves the use of lightweight, spike-tipped sticks which resemble those used by skiers. The technique burns more calories than regular walking and spreads weight over four “feet” instead of two, offering increased stability and taking pressure off sore points. Pole walking is used all over the world by people from a range of ages, fitness levels, medical and neuromuscular conditions. ...
